John Lithgow spent his childhood years in Yellow Springs,Ohio where he and his siblings were babysat by Coretta Scott while she was attending Antioch College where she became involved in the nascent Civil Rights Movement.
She later won a scholarship to the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston and it was while there she was introduced to Martin Luther King . They became romantically involved and they married in June 1953.
