Britney Spears’ “Toxic” is probably about a vet

“Toxic” was co-written by British singer-songwriter Cathy Dennis around the time she was splitting from long term boyfriend Noel Fitzpatrick who was a vet.

Although it was around this time that he was acting in small Tv parts (while already a qualified vet). In 2004, he appeared in two episodes of British Tv drama Heartbeat (once as a vet, the other as a sheep rustler) and one episode of Casualty in 2005; and around that time he appeared on a BBC documentary Wildlife SOS which prompted complaints from the public that they had got an actor to pose as a vet for the show.

He had earlier speared on ITVs London’s Burning and in two episodes of The Bill.

Five years later in 2009 Fitzpatrick became the first vet to attach prosthetic limbs to a cat. The cat was called Oscar. The following year he debuted on television as The Bionic Vet and subsequently as The Supervet.

Around the same time as “Toxic”, which was originally offered to Kylie Minogue and rejected, Dennis co-wrote “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” which was a smash hit for Kylie, and given the timing quite potentially about the same vet!

Cathy Dennis began her musical career in the late eighties with a couple of hits with D-Mob.

Her biggest success came in 2008 with Katy Perry’s smash hit “I Kissed a Girl”
